Developed by the NDA Awards Committee, in conjunction with the  Safety Committee, the award honours the legacy of the late Mike Casbon, who died in March aged 53.

An expert with 25 years experience in the fields of demolition, decontamination and construction, Mike was a member of the NDA’s Education, Safety and Government Affairs committees.

He was instrumental in the development of the Foundations of Demolition Management education series, and posthumously received the association’s Hall of Fame Award earlier this year.

Mike was also a subject matter expert for the OSHA Training Institute and trained more than 1,000 compliance officers in field inspection principles.

The NDA said the award has been created to recognise member companies that have demonstrated a commitment to safety through proven safety programmes and protocols.

The award will be given to winners in three categories based on total man-hours worked per year, and all companies regardless of size are encouraged to participate. Applications close on October 11.
