Doosan has launched two new tracked excavators in the 6 tonne class, the DX63-3 conventional tail swing machine and the DX62R-3 reduced radius tail swing, with both machines weighing in at 6,250 kg (13,750 lb) . The new machines have been designed to replace the current DX60R and DX55E and feature a number of developments, said Doosan. These are intended to maximise performance, versatility, operator comfort, durability, ease of maintenance and serviceability, the company went on.

One of the key new features is the enhanced hydraulic performance, with a 33% increase in flow rate to 132 litres/min (29 gall/min) in addition to a load sensing system that ensures high hydraulic performance and allows smooth and efficient combined operations. Two-way hydraulic flow is also available for the primary auxiliary circuit for operating high flow attachments.

Digging forces have also been uprated, with bucket dig force up 7% to 4.4 tonnes and dig arm force 10% greater at 2.9 tonnes and a longer arm provides a better overall working range. Traction force has also been upped by 5% to 5.6 tonnes and travel speeds have been increased in both low and high ranges to 2.6 km/hr (1.6 mph) and 4.7 km/hr (2.9 mph) respectively.
