The European Rental Association (ERA) is supporting the creation of a new exhibition for the European rental industry and is currently in discussions with KHL Group-publisher of IRN-and exhibitions specialist IPI concerning a potential first event in 2008.

Gerard Deprez, ERA's president, told delegates at the association's convention in Berlin on 6 June that the ERA wanted to use its influence to help create an “equipment exhibition for rental companies…This exhibition would be open to any manufacturer or service provider interested in the European rental market. This would also encourage manufacturers to design equipment dedicated to rental companies.”

The venue and timings for the event have still to be determined, although a date in early June is likely and a major European capital city is the favoured location.

Mr Deprez said the event could also represent an opportunity for national rental associations-many of which are ERA members-to organise a “rental day” during the show to address issues specific to their members. The ERA would also organise its annual convention to coincide with the exhibition.

“The first European Rental Show could take place in 2008, when there is no Bauma or Intermat”, said Mr Deprez. James King, KHL's managing director, said; “We're delighted to be working with ERA on this project.”
