NFM Technologies, the France-based tunnel-boring machine manufacturer, has opened a new office in Shenzhen, China for after sales, service, maintenance and support.

This office, set up with SHMG (Shenyang Heavy Machinery Group), will manage services on sites in the southern part of China, between Shenzhen and Wuhan.

The NFM-SHMG TBM Shenzhen Service Center is already staffed by a mixed team of over ten European and Chinese technicians and is the third it has opened in the country. The others are in Beijing and Shenyang.

NFM Technologies is involved in 18 projects in Guangdong province:

- 14 machines are currently carrying out excavation work (four for the Shiziyang railway tunnel, four for the Guangzhou Underground system and six for the Shenzhen Underground system)

- four other earth pressure balance tunnel boring machines, currently being assembled in our Shenyang workshops, will be delivered to Shenzhen during 2009.

In a statement NFM said, "The new office will enable us to provide better support at each stage of our site work, to ensure that machines are operational and to reduce lead times."
