Ramirent is now offering site security systems from Swedish company SafeTool.

Ramirent is offering its Swedish customers new site security systems, including ID-card operated doors and gates and secure containers of tools that can only be accessed by authorised workers.

The rental company has teamed up with Swedish company SafeTool AB to offer a range of site security systems. These include gates and doors opened by workers with access cards embedded with RFID cards. These ensure that only workers authorised to enter a site can do so, and at the same time record when a worker has accessed a site.

Similarly, Ramirent can supply tools inside a container than can be accessed only by workers with the appropriate ID cards. Tools can also be tagged with RFID chips. Alongside the hardware, SafeTool supplies web-based software that the rental company can use to track the real time locations of tools.

"Ramirent can now deliver complete solutions for improving safety at construction sites all over Sweden", said Christian Jacobsson, Ramirent's product manager for power and heating.

Kenneth Johansson, SafeTool's chief executive officer, told IRN that the company has been selling its products to large contractors and rental companies in the Nordic region for several years but that the demand for the technology has started to grow more strongly in the past year.

He said SafeTool was now looking at launching its products in the UK either later this year or early the new year, and that sales to other European markets are also likely in the future.
