Sennebogen’s 821 material handler delivered to German recycler MEAB features a diesel power pack to provide power on the move

Working in close cooperation with Swecon Baumaschinen and customer Märkische Entsorgungsanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (MEAB), Sennebogen recently delivered a new 821 material handler that makes use of a 90 kW (121 hp) electric motor connected by a rear mounted cable to a power source nearby.

MEAB is primarily using the machine indoors, hence the selection of electricity as the power form of choice. In addition to the low operating and service costs this solution offers, this electric machine has the added benefit of not producing any exhaust into the hall where it is working in Schöneiche, Germany, eliminating exhaust treatment issues and the need for any particulate filters. The power itself is environmentally friendly, since it is generated just a few meters away using landfill gas.

However, the machine has to be quickly driven out of the hall, and is occasionally used at other locations. As a result, the design had to provide the necessary electric power capability but also offer sufficient flexibility. Sennebogen’s solution was to remove the counterweight and replace it with a diesel power pack, thus allowing the electric machine to be freed from the limitations of its electricity supply cable. The machine offers a reach of 12 m (40 ft) and when working in the hall continuously feeds two shredders.
