Short radius success

According To Amman-Yanmar's Dealer For Hamburg, Germany, It Commands a 70% share of the local mini excavator market. “Ammann-Yanmar has been particularly successful with the new 1,5 and 1,7 tonne short swing radius mini-excavators from the SV range. The rear swing radius of the machines is around 250 mm shorter than on other comparable models, while the excavators remain at least just as stable. This is our best sales argument,” Dirk Carstensen, sales manager at HKL Baumaschinen in Hamburg told CE.

Detlef Marotz, a foreman and machine operator at landscaping company Jan Baumann GmbH in Hamburg, has recently taken charge of an SV15. “Compared to the B15, that I used to operate, this excavator has a bigger cab, is faster in its working movements and is considerably quieter,” he said.

Jörg Schulze, the company's general manager, explained the decision making underpinning the purchase of the new mini excavator, which features load sensing hydraulics. “We've already worked for a long time with Yanmar excavators, and the versatility of the small zero-tail-swing machines, particularly on cramped work sites such as are often found in the inner-city, is a genuine advantage,” he said.
