Sinco’s first Potain MCT 205 in Brazil

Sinco Engineering put its new Potain MCT 205 tower crane to work on the 16-storey West Corp commercial development in the suburb of Barueri, São Paulo, Brazil.

The 10 tonne capacity MCT 205 was configured with a working radius of 65 metres and has a freestanding height of 59.4 m. It included a Power Control system and is used to lift formwork, rebar and precast concrete pillars for the building’s construction. Loads weigh up to 2 tonnes. In addition to general lifting work, the crane was also put to work pouring concrete.

Paulo Carvalho, technical director at Brazilian Potain distributor Locabens, said, “The entire structure will be completed with just one crane, rather than the two cranes that would typically be required on similar projects. That saves considerable time and money for everyone involved.

“With Power Control, if the job site isn’t able to provide the electrical power output needed by the crane at all times, the system adapts to the available current and works at compatible speeds and loads,” explained Carvalho. “This technology allows for more flexibility and increased productivity.”

When configured on the 1.6 m mast system, the MCT 205 can have up to 60 m of jib at the end of which capacity is 2.2 tonnes, the manufacturer said. When mounted on the 2 m mast system the crane can have up to 65 m of jib where the jib end capacity is 1.75 tonnes. Winch choices are the 60 LVF 25, which has a rope capacity of 550 m, or the 75 LVF 25, which has an 895 m rope capacity is and suitable for high-rise construction projects.

The West Corp project will have a plaza with space for eight retail shops, customer parking and bike racks.
