Swedish-based construction company Skanska has been selected by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) as the preferred bidder for what was said to be one of Norway’s largest road projects ever.

It is the first PPP-project in the Scandinavian country for more than ten years, and at a value of NOK5.5 billion (€572.3 million) it will involve the construction of a new national road between Løten and Elverum in the county of Hedmark.

The contract includes the construction and financing of the project, as well as 20 years of operating and maintaining the road once completed.

Skanska Norway will manage the construction, while Skanska Infrastructure Development will manage the PPP-project and the investment.

Financial close is expected to be in the second quarter of 2018.
