Speedy Hire orders 250 Skyjack units

18 August 2011

Speedy Hire, a UK general rental company, has placed an initial order for 250 Skyjack units comprising of SJ3219 compact scissors and the recently introduced SJ12 vertical mast, with the unique traversing deck feature.

The investment marks a slight departure for the company since it has previously focused on very small low-heighht access products. These will be its largest yet access machines. The company already has a national re-rental agreement in place with Lavendon's UK subsidiary, Nationwide, to provide aerial platforms for contracts when required.

David Graham, managing director of Speedy's UK Asset Services division, told Access International at a trade press briefing (see separate story here) that the decision to invest in the scissors had been an easy one, with demand for smaller machines currently running at good levels.

As part of the contract Skyjack is providing Speedy with a comprehensive support package which includes general maintenance, service and product training for all key depot, hire desk and service personnel.

"Skyjack produce robust, reliable and easy to maintain products, focused on the rental market and are ideally suited to the needs of our customers," said Speedy supply chain director, Andy Connor.

The units are scheduled to be delivered to the all the company's larger locations and superstores by the end of August 2011.
