Tandem vessel lift by Wagenborg

Netherlands-headquartered lifting and transportation specialist Wagenborg Nedlift, part of maritime logistics conglomerate the Wagenborg Group, carried out the tandem lift of a pressure vessel using two all-terrain cranes: a Demag AC 500-2 and a Tadano ATF 400G-6.

The pressure vessel weighed 138 tonnes and was 12.8 metres long. It had to be lifted off from a roll-on/roll-off (RORO) pontoon and onto a self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) so that it could be taken to its destination by land.

The 400 tonne capacity class Tadano ATF 400G-6 was equipped with 98 tonnes of counterweight to lift its load portion of 49.5 tonnes at a radius of 15 metres. The 500 tonne capacity class Demag AC 500-2 was equipped with 140 tonnesof counterweight to lift the remaining 88.5 tonnes of the pressure vessel, also with a radius of 15 metres.
