Indian construction company Technoteam Constructions put a 5 tonne capacity Potain MCi 85 A tower crane to work on the Travancore Opus Highway project in Kochi, India.

The MCi 85 A has a 25 metre jib and can lift 3 tonnes at the jib end. When configured with 50 m jib, it lifts 1.3 tonnes at the jib end, the manufacturer said. The tower crane is due to spend the next three years working at the site of the 27 storey residential development. For the project the MCi 85 A was erected for internal climbing to reach the full height of the building.

Joby Uthuppa, partner of Technoteam Construction, said, “We are extremely satisfied with the quality and performance of our Potain MCi 85 A. We’ve been able to reduce the number of workers on site, saving cost and streamlining the project. We have a few more projects in the pipeline, so it’s likely we will buy more Potain cranes in the future.”

Two more Potain tower cranes are also working on residential developments in the area. The first is a MCi 85 A tower crane owned by construction company SILPA Projects & Infrastructure. The tower crane is being used on the Rarajagiri Campus Court project, a development of luxury apartments in Kakkanad, Kochi.

P K Paul, director of SILPA, said, “Following our experience with other crane companies throughout this project, we’ve witnessed first-hand the advantages of the Potain tower crane in terms of comfort and efficiency. We’ve received great feedback from our operators and the Manitowoc Crane Care service is extremely quick, which is an important factor with every product we buy. We are likely to buy more Potain cranes to support demand from future projects.”

The other Potain tower crane working in the area, also a MCi 85 A, has been put to work on DD Diamond Valley project in Kakkanad, Kochi by Desai Homes, the construction wing of the DD group. Once complete, the DD Diamond Valley project will have three residential towers.
