Edge Innovate hosted its first ever dealer open day with 80 delegates attending from over 20 different countries worldwide and used the event to introduce its newest product, the TRM516 Mobile trommel that is suitable for use in a wide range of applications, such as aggregates, skip waste, industrial and demolition waste recycling.

The machines features a 4.9 m (16 ft) drum that permits the machine to produce high quality materials such as compost, gravel, sand and topsoil with ease, said Edge, and also achieves enhanced screening results as result of the greater length of time that material remains in the drum. This, claimed the company, results in a machine that can process many material types that only larger trommels previously could.

Other features on the machine include an overload sensing system where the drum and feeder work together to prevent overloading using pressure transducer technology. Hydraulic pressure used to drive the drum is continuously monitored – should the pressure rise too high, the drum slows down and should remain too high the feeder will slow down to an eventual stop. Once the pressure drops the drum speeds up again.

By engineering a very compact end conveyor machine, Edge has kept the advantage of a side conveyor product with all the advantages of the end conveyor offering, ultimately giving the customer the best of both worlds. For those that require a 90° output conveyor, the radial conveyor can of course be set to that position either left or right to offer this feature. Optional oversize and radial fines conveyors are also available for higher stockpiling requirements.
