According to documents from a City of Doral Planning and Zoning Department 14 August meeting, the city’s council held a first reading of the rezoning request from “Trump Endeavor 12 LLC Rezoning”, which also delivered information on the developing real estate build. The Trump Organization possesses the resort, which is owned by former US President and current presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The resort, which includes a golf course, sits on more than 600 acres outside of Miami, Florida, with the rezoning accompanying just less than 60 acres. The Trump Organization a seeking a zoning change to “downtown mixed use” to allow for more dense housing on-site.

The proposed project consists of adding about 1,500 residential units to the site across more than 140,000 sq ft (13,0006m2). Preliminary designs from Florida designers PPK Architects include five towers each about 20 storeys tall.

The request was approved, 3-2, at the Doral Zoning and Planning meeting with a final vote from the city council expected in September.
