US impacts Cemex profits

Cemex profits Cemex's revenues increased +6% in the second quarter of the year to US$ 4.9 billion, compared to US$ 4.6 billion in the first quarter of 2006. Its earnings of interest, tax and amortisation (EBITA) were down 1% over the period to US$ 1.1 billion.

Sales in the US were down-16% compared to Q2 2006, and Cemex's from the region EBITA was-31% lower.

Cemex saw sales rise in all the other regions of the world it serves.
