Waste recycler to double ZenRobotics input

A Switzerland-based recycling has reinvested in ZenRobotics robot technologies to recover more construction waste at its site in Zurich.

The facility, owned by Spross Recyclingwerk Zurich, recycles waste by sorting it and sending it to other facilities in Switzerland, where the waste can be reused.

Spross, which started working with ZenRobotics in 2019 in a bid to make its waste recycling more efficient, is now doubling the number of robot arms to have more fractions sorted at up to 4,000 picks per hour.

This would allow the company to earn more from valuable fractions or reduce the cost of elimination. So far, the robot has been recovering mainly concrete and stone for concrete.

“We are working 13 m (42 ft) above ground and what amazed me was that these robots work perfectly in these difficult surroundings,” said manager of disposal services Josef Binzegger.

“This environment is dusty, it is not heated and the ground vibrates all the time.”
