With Covid-19 continuing to cast its shadow across the world, it has been another challenging year for the global access industry.

However, there has still been plenty of activity as stakeholders continue to adjust to a new normal and carry out business as usual.

We look back at some of the mots viewed stories in 2021…

1 – Xtreme launches world’s tallest telehandler

Xtreme Manufacturing made a major return to in-person trade shows, with the debut of the world’s tallest fixed boom telehandler at World of Concrete 2021, taking place 8-10 June, in Las Vegas, US.

2 – AccessM20 2021 - world’s largest access manufacturers

As one might imagine, this accessM20 listing of revenues from the world’s largest access equipment manufacturers for the 2020 calendar year, looked quite different to the figures in 2019 - although, not completely.

3 – Vanhalst family sells stake in TVH Parts

D’Ieteren Group is set to acquire a 40% stake in TVH Parts from the Vanhalst family, which co-founded the company.

The remaining 60% will be retained by the Thermote family, which co-founded the company with the Vanhalsts.

4 – U.S. announces tariff ruling on Chinese MEWP imports

On 12 October, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) reached a determination regarding its investigation into Chinese MEWP imports into the U.S., announcing import duties ranging from 12% to 488% should be imposed on Chinese imports.

5 – Lessons learned from aerial platform accident statistics

Brian Parker, IPAF’s head of safety and technical and its international safety committee, shared the latest findings and outlines some of the lessons to be learned from the latest Global Safety Report.

6 – Sinoboom agrees TVH deal

Sinoboom BV signed an agreement with TVH at Vertikal Days to provide full parts and service provision across Europe.

Under the agreement, TVH which has 81 branches worldwide, serving more than180 countries, will provide a comprehensive spare parts supply and service for all Sinoboom’s operations across Europe.

7 – Terex bounces back in first half

In July, Terex Corporation announced a strong first half year with group sales up 50% in the second quarter, over the same period last year, and its Terex AWP and material Processing (MP) divisions showing significant recovery.

8 – Telescopic boom lifts - the trends

Higher capacities were a key feature of new telescopic boom lifts, while 100% electric models are becoming a reality too. Also under discussion is the future of mega-booms, of around 200ft working height, or more...
