Topcon Positioning Group has broken ground on its new Technology Innovation District in Concordia, Italy.

The new technology centre consists of a 169,000m3 campus, of which nearly 45,000m3 will function as head offices for Topcon-affiliated organisations, Tierra and Infomobility.

The development will include constructing offices, logistics facilities, and construction and agricultural machine control testing areas. The remainder of the land will be dedicated to technical business services and activities commercially connected to Topcon.

Ray O’Connor, president and CEO of Topcon Positioning Systems, said, “We recognise the responsibility and benefits of cultivating our established partnerships in the region. As an addition to our global network of research facilities, this new technology centre will provide a collaborative environment for specialised areas of research and development.

"Additionally, given the close proximity to major universities, we expect to continue to strengthen partnerships with these organisations for mutually beneficial research and educational opportunities.”

The first phase of the development will open towards the end of 2015, with the entire project expected to complete by 2018.
