Construction has officially started on the US$ 247 million Interstate 15 (I-15) South Design-Build Project in Nevada, US.

Work is being carried out by design manager, Jacobs Engineering Group and local contractor Las Vegas Paving Corporation, on behalf of the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT).

Jacobs said plans include widening the motorway, adding collector-distributor roads, redesigning five interchanges and building 26 new bridge sections and 35 retaining walls.

Additionally, 2.4 km of sound walls will be built along 9.6 km of the I-15, from Tropicana Avenue to Silverado Ranch Boulevard in Clark County, Nevada.

Jacobs Group vice president Robert M. Clement said, "We are excited that construction is underway on this important project. We are pleased to be working with Las Vegas Paving on this programme, which continues our long-term relationship with NDOT."
