International heavy lift and transport specialist Mammoet and Vietnamese contractor Lilama have signed an agreement to work together on construction projects.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) will see Mammoet working with Lilama to provide lifting and transport services. These often define the critical path of a project’s construction phase. Mammoet will be involved from an early stage of future projects in project planning and engineering.

Commenting on the MoU, ChongKook Cho, Mammoet Korea managing director, said, “We welcome the opportunity to work closely with Lilama and their engineers to optimise the project execution at design stage. Combining forces will bring added value to the construction schedules of various projects.”

Hoang Minh Khoi, Lilama Corporation deputy manager, business and technical department, said, “The collaboration will allow Lilama and Mammoet to optimally utilise local resources which helps us increase our cost-effectiveness.”

Lilama is an EPC contractor established in 2000. It works locally and abroad on industrial projects, including thermal and combined cycle power plants. Mechanical and equipment manufacturing and machinery installation projects are also carried out.

While Lilama has its own cranes, the agreement will allow access to Mammoet’s vast fleet of cranes, heavy transport and other specialized equipment. Mammoet said its experience extends to more than 200 years in engineered heavy lifting and transport around the world, including projects in Vietnam, for example, the Nghi Son Refinery and Bien Dong project.
