The organising committee of the Rio 2016 Olympics have released new video of the event's masterplan, facilities and venues, which includes a new rapid transport "ring" inside the city, new stadia and an atheletes village.

Rio is expected to spend US$ 11.1 billion building facilities and supporting infrastructure for the 2016 Olympics.

Venues for the games will be constructed in four areas of the city - Barra da Tijuca, Copacabana, Deodoro and Maracana.

The main Olympic stadium will be in Maracanã, while the Olympic Village will be situated in Barra da Tijuca.

New and refurbished stadia in Salvador, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Brasilia will be used for both the 2014 World Cup and the Olympic football tournament.

An estimated 205 countries will send a total of 12500 athletes to the 2016 Olympics. It will be the first time the event has been held in South America.
