Ex-Lavendon chief executive Kevin Appleton is to be proposed as a board member of Ramirent at the company's annual general meeting on 28 March.

Mr Appleton is being put forward by Ramirent's main shareholders, Nordstjernan AB and Oy Julius Tallberg Ab, who together represent approximately 40% of Ramirent's voting rights.

If voted in, Mr Appleton will become a part-time, independent board member, serving a one-year term, joining the current six board members who are up for re-election.

Current board members are former CEO Erkki Norvio, Kaj-Gustaf Bergh, Johan Ek, Peter Hofvenstam, Susanna Renlund and Gry Hege Sølsnes.

Mr Appleton has had a 20 year career in management, most recently as CEO of Lavendon Group, where he worked for nine years until he left last summer. Before that he worked for Constructor Dexion, FedEx Logistics/ Caliber Logistics and NFC Plc.

Meanwhile, Mr Appleton is to start writing a regular column for International Rental News (IRN) magazine. His first, to be published in the March-April issue of IRN, will address the impact that the Eurozone crisis is having on the region's rental industry.
