Airpac Bukom Oilfield Services, the oil and gas rental division of UK rental group Vp plc, has placed a multi-million euro order with Doosan Infracore Portable Power for a new fleet of Ingersoll Rand Rigsafe portable compressors.

The investment expands the company's equipment rental fleet to support a growing market for well test and high pressure pipeline operations worldwide. The order comprises Ingersoll Rand 9/270 Rigsafe air compressors supplying 28 m3/min at 8.6 bar. The units will primarily used on well test contracts in Africa and South America.

Airpac Bukom has also invested heavily in high pressure XHP1070 Rigsafe air compressors from Doosan Infracore Portable Power. The rental company's Singapore base, for example, has recently supplied Weatherford with 10 of the new XHP1070 units and dryers for a 7 month testing contract in the Fujian Province of the People's Republic of China.

The company, which has a fleet of 400 air compressors, is based in the UK where it started renting equipment to the North Sea over 30 years ago, but now operates a number of rental hubs worldwide, including Australia, the Middle East and Latin America.

Airpac previously had an onshore rental operation, but sold that to Australia's Coates Hire in 2002.
