New 70m Bronto joins Nationwide Platforms' fleet
23 August 2012
Nationwide Platforms has taken delivery of its latest large truck mounted platform, a 70 m Bronto S70 XDT. This follows the investment in an 84 m Bronto before the summer.
The 70 m model offers an outreach of up to 35 metres and features back-up power, a telematics fault finding system and real time display function.
A unique feature of the truck is a new safety rail system jointly developed by Nationwide and Bronto. Fixed rails on either side of the boom provide sliding anchor points for fall arrestors, offering fall protection for staff working on the deck of the machine.
Nationwide, part of the Lavendon Group, said it will use the platform in a wide range of applications, including media, electrical utilities, telecoms, wind farm maintenance, facilities management and surveying.
The unit has a 360˚ TV camera cage, 300 kg capacity hydraulic cage winch, and the cage is the standard Bronto high capacity extendable cage.
John Weights, who is technical director of Nationwide's Specialist Vehicles division, said; "The S70 XDT represents a very strong addition to our Specialist Vehicles range and will help us continue to ensure that we deliver the highest calibre equipment to our customers.
"We were pleased to work with Bronto to develop the new rail system which complements the already comprehensive array of safety systems which come as standard with the machine."
The Specialist Vehicle fleet has around 600 units, including tracked, trailer, van and truck mounted models providing access from 9 to 84 m.
