United Rentals tops Aerials20 list

02 September 2012

The annual A20 listing shows fleet replacement and modest growth, but after its acquisition of RSC, United Rentals easily claims the top spot with more than 100,000 aerials in its fleet.

The top five spots have Sunbelt Rentals, Ahern Rentals, Hertz Equipment Rental and NES Rental Equipment Co. with gains from 2011's list, showcasing a still-recovering market. While companies are mostly refleeting, some have slight growth in their numbers and expect the remainder of 2012 to be good for business.

"The rest of 2012 looks very good for rentals," said Jackson Schlieve, aerial division manager of Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental, Inc. - A member of the ALL Family of Companies. "With the federal Renewable Energy Production Tax Credit (PTC) set to expire on December 31, rentals are booming to keep up with the demand from contractors trying to complete wind farm projects by then. Projects in the aerial rentals pipeline for 2013 include various corporate HQ additions and renovations and power plant updates and expansions."

ALL Aerials, a member of the ALL Family of Companies, ranks 12th on this year's A20. For the complete listing and market analysis, see the September/October issue of Access, Lift & Handlers magazine.
