RSS 50 aids factory demolition
19 June 2015
German contractor Weimer GmbH, based in Lahnau, used a 6,200 kg (13,640 lb) Rotar RSS 50 scrap shear along with a 3,860 kg (8,492 lb) RG 50 N sorting grab in conjunction with two Liebherr excavators during the demolition of the former MTG Mittelhessiche Tonergbau GmbH clay processing plant in Giessen, which had been lying idle since the company went bankrupt in the 1990s. The frames of the structure were easily cut by the shear into smaller pieces, with more than 600 tonnes of steel being processed on site.
Thomas Koch of Weimer GmbH was more than satisfied with the power and performance of the RSS 50. He said: “using this shear enabled us to optimally dismantle the steel construction and cut it into pieces. As a result, the activities on the construction site were completed ahead of schedule.”
