Sobha Developers, a commercial and residential property developer in India, is upgrading its crane fleet to 100% Potain.

The Indian tower crane owner operates a fleet of 40 cranes, 29 of which are Potain. Sobha has added 10 new Potain towers in the last 18 months.

Srikanth Kulkarni, Sobha Developers senior vice-president, explained the reasons behind the move, “The cranes perform well and are very adaptable as they can be used with different mast sections depending on the required height.

“If there is ever a problem, we know that Potain has a great support network in India, which makes our large fleet much easier to manage. We want to standardise our range to make servicing simpler and we plan to add more Potain cranes in future.”

Sobha’s most recent order was for five units of the 5 tonne capacity MCi 85 A top slewing tower. Three will be supplied with a chassis for easier set up on a wide range of projects, the company said.

Sobha uses Manitowoc Crane Care in Pune, for ordering parts, arranging service and for general advice. Customers can get technical support 24 hours a day through a linkup with facilities in China, France and the USA, Manitowoc said.
