Australian port chooses Barin
03 February 2014
An underbridge inspection unit from Italian manufacturer Barin is working on Australia’s Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT).
The specially designed unit, a Barin AB 16/S, is being used to assist maintenance crews checking the underside of the 3.8 km jetty at the port. The unit is truck-mounted on a Scania P400 Lb 8x4 HNB chassis and has a bucket-type aerial platform with a capacity of 300 kg, which can work both underbridge and overhead.
The unit, sold to DBCT by Barin’s exclusive distributor for Australia, Lincoln Hire, has a maximum horizontal underbridge reach of 16m and a maximum overhead reach of 21.5 m.
DBCT is part of the world’s largest coal export port in Australia and exports thermal and metallurgical coal from central Queensland’s Bowen Basin Mines to ports around the world. The terminal operates around the clock and has a capacity of 85 MTPA.
