New PM 200 tested

24 April 2008

Austrian contractor Kutter Asphalt Bau (KAB) has spent four weeks testing Cat's PM-200 cold planer on a variety of milling jobs in Austria, the Netherlands and Italy.

These included a main highway project from Vienna to Germany, where it worked for 12 consecutive hours without incident, milling a section of a busy transit road outside of Vienna and resurfacing Vienna's Wien Schwechat Airport - a 15000 m2 project with cutting depths ranging from 150 to 180 mm and a cutting speed of 5 to 8 m/minute.

The 30 tonne PM-200 uses a Stage IIIA compliant Cat C18 turbocharged air-to-air aftercooling engine with ACERT Technology, to deliver 429 kW at 1900 rpm with a torque of 2718 Nm. It can perform full-depth removal of both asphalt and concrete pavements at a maximum width of 2,01 m and to a depth of 320 mm.
