Takeuchi installs solar at its US facilities to cover 85% of energy needs

Takeuchi, a Japan-based construction machine manufacturer, announced that two of its US facilities are ‘going green’ by adding solar-power infrastructure.

The move, the OEM said, will cover about 85% of the energy for the two facilities, one located in Pendergrass, Georgia, and the other in Moore, South Carolina.

“The remaining 15% will be sourced as green energy from local electrical suppliers, allowing Takeuchi’s US locations to remain carbon neutral all year round,” said the company.

Takeuchi said it will apply for Inflation Reduction Act tax credit to help offset the cost of installation.

The project started in 2023, with Takeuchi choosing North Carolina-based Renu Energy Solutions to install the solar panels, which also handled permitting with local governments.

“The first building to ‘go live’ was our South Carolina office building in February 2024,” said Jeff Stewart, president of Takeuchi-US.

“That was quickly followed by our Training Center in Pendergrass and then the manufacturing plant in South Carolina. Finally, the machine distribution centre, corporate office and main distribution centre in Pendergrass came online in early July.”
